Assuming increasing wealth inequality is not sustainable, why would we allow the trend to continue. From here on, before a policy changes, it should be demonstrated how the new improved policy decreases inequality. If said policy fails to deliver in adequate time scale, then the policy is reverted.

Political influence should be proportional to tax contributions.This assumes we are in a one person one vote system.

Healthy societies must maintain high levels of inter and intra generational class mobility. A direct, rapid path to achieve this would be to eliminate familial inheritance. Limit the estate to be inherited to the median annual income. This would move us toward a meritocracy, but at a rate we could all cope with.
